OMG!!!! Kent County Championships Report‏

Question: How does the smallest squad on the planet, the only team without subs, play their way through a whole day of hockey matches against the best teams in the county and end up 3rd in their pool and 5th overall out of 16, (having been 15th last year)?
Answer ; Because they are a bunch of Superstars, and they play as a team!!!!!!!

What a fantastic day in the sun we have had, at a very well run tournament at Canterbury HC. Every single boy stepped right up and played their hearts out, even when they were tired towards the end. We only lost one game, against the eventual winners, Canterbury A, our first game so a challenging warm up in which FInlay had a storming game with balls flying towards top corners, diving and smothering. It was great to draw against the Brombecks team who beat us soundly last week, (Canterbury were cheering us on as it secured them the top spot in the pool!), a very even match this time and strong defence by Tom, Alex and James.
3rd place in the pool was secured by drawing a high pressure match against Sevenoaks A, who were at the time only 1 point behind and VERY determined to win, but the boys held their nerve in some quite rough play. Lovely also to end with a win against Anchorians with Zac scoring after some lovely passing by Chris and Ewen.

Scores:
SV v Canterbury A 0-4
SV v Folkestone 1 -0 Ewen
SV v Marden Meerkats 2-0 Ewen/Alex
SV v Bexleyheath & Belvedere 1-0 Ewen
SV v Bromley & Beckenham A 0-0
SV v Sevenoaks A 0-0
SV v Gillingham Anchorians 1-0 Zac

Many thanks to all the parents for all the encouragement from the side and keeping the boys going with food - and all the cups of tea for me - it was a great day to (nearly) end the season on.

But a HUGE well done to the boys, we are so proud of you all.

Next week we have a day off and then on the 22nd it is the last tournament of the season, the local derby, at Marden, (so full team needed please!!!) with Maidstone making up the triangular.

Best wishes
Sarah
