The U12 Boys bought their fantastic season to a fitting close with another tournament win at Marden today, with a nice local derby against 2 teams from Marden and 1 from Maidstone.
As all teams had at least 8 players we decided to play 8 aside, which caused the boys to bunch up and be a bit scrappy to start with, however in the second half of the first game they started using the full width of the pitch much better with some great work from Chris and Gabriel, and later newcomer George, on the wings, feeding the ball into the D.
The first and last game were full of goals, with Ewen and Alex doing some lovely runs with the ball and Finlay not doing much at all (!!), however he had to wake up against Marden Yellows who were determined to strike a blow against our boys!
However, the defence team of Zac, James and Tom were not going to let that happen and all put in some great tackles - it was great to see how much more confident Zac and Thomas in particular are, compared to this time last year.

Well done boys a cracking end to the season, every one of you has improved tremendously, but more importantly gained much more confidence on the pitch. Above all, the thing that keeps you winning is how you play as a team, which confounds some very skilled individuals in the opposition!

SV v Marden Yellows 0-0 (but 1-0 really as a Marden foot on the line was later confirmed to be a penalty goal, but not sure who the shot was from!)
SV v Maidstone 5-0 Scorers Chris 2, Ewen 2, Alex 1

SV won on goal difference without the penalty goal.

There is the last Tuesday training this week and last proper Sunday training next Sunday. However, all please come to a fun ‘training’ at SV Prep on Sunday 19th April, with parents dressed in trainers and trackies so they can join in!!
