Excellent all-round performance

Sutton Valence Hockey Club 1st XI put on a scorching performance on a hot and sunny October day at Sutton Valence Prep School, dominating Sevenoaks Hockey Club with an impressive 8-1 victory.
From the opening whistle, Sutton Valence showcased their prowess, setting the tone for a match that would firmly belong to them. The home crowd erupted in joy as the first goal came courtesy of Andy Turnill, who expertly capitalized on a rebounded short corner, leaving Sevenoaks' goalkeeper helpless.
Alex Stamp, leading his team as captain, swiftly followed suit with another goal for Sutton Valence. The crowd's cheers were momentarily dampened when Sevenoaks managed to slip one past the Valence goalkeeper due to an accidental deflection by Chris Back.
However, Sutton Valence remained unfazed, determined to reclaim their lead. In the second half, Andy Turnill stole the show with a remarkable five goals, showcasing his incredible skill set. One of his goals came from a powerful drag flick, another was a skilful deflection at the right-hand post, and three were the result of exceptional team play involving Lewis Mitchell, Brett Angel, Fred McVarish, Chris Back, and Dickie Turnill.
Not to be outdone, Alex Stamp added one more goal to his tally, beautifully converting a pass from the prolific Andy Turnill. The chemistry and teamwork displayed by Sutton Valence were truly commendable.
The team's defensive line, led by goalkeeper Mark Whitmill and fortified by Russell Blanchard, Matt Luksich, Angus McVarish, and Chris Back as the sweeper, proved to be rock solid, limiting Sevenoaks' chances throughout the match.
The midfield trio of Jack Davies, Fred McVarish, and Lewis Mitchell controlled the centre of the field with precision, while Brett Angel and the forwards, Alex Stamp and Andy Turnill, orchestrated a symphony of attacking manoeuvres that left Sevenoaks struggling to keep up.
Substitutes Steve Parker and Dickie Turnill provided fresh energy when called upon, contributing to the team's relentless performance.
In the end, the man of the match award fittingly went to the standout performer, Andy Turnill, whose exceptional goal-scoring spree and all-around contribution were pivotal in Sutton Valence's dominant 8-1 victory. Sutton Valence Hockey Club left no doubt that they were the superior team on this sun-soaked day, thrilling their fans and earning a well-deserved triumph.
