1st Xl maintain their winning streak

Plenty of fireworks
Sutton Valence started positively and held possession well in the opening 10 mins and forced the opposition keeper to action a couple of times from open play, and a short corner, but were initially unable to capitalise. A Folkestone break took play to the home D and it was the turn of the home team keeper to make a reaction save from a drag flicked short corner. Valence regrouped and maintained control for the remainder of the half.
Sutton Valence’s first goal came in the 6th minute, Kevin Kirkham finishing well from inside the D. It would be his only entry in the score book this week as a through ball shortly after had him pulling up like Derek Redmond and sitting out the remainder of the game.
Folkestone claimed a goal back 2 minutes later. The initial shot saved but the rebound gathered and put away.
The score remained level for 5 minutes until Charlie Humphrey composed himself well from close range to beat despairing efforts from a couple of Folkestone defenders. With Valence maintaining possession the pressure soon told, and James Stanford‘s drag flicked short corner was perfectly placed to double the home team advantage. The remainder of the half was predominantly Sutton Valence possession but the score remained unchanged at 3- 1.
The second half saw the home team continue to dominate possession and force saves from the visiting keeper and come close on a few occasions but Alex Stamp’s 56th minute strike was the only goal of the half.
Final score 4-1
