Bare 11 Valence team take 3 points

With a late push back and World Cup rugby interfering with player selection, Sutton Valence managed to scrape together 11 players for the 16:30 pushback in Gillingham. In fact SV started the game with only 10 men due to traffic issues. Even with just 10 men SV dominated play in the first 15 minutes, but weren't able to convert this into a goal. Play continued with both teams taking equal share of possession for the rest of the half. SV finally broke the deadlock after numerous short corner chances, with a well worked routine being played back to Chris Stile the pusher at the back post for a simple tap in. The goal sparked Anchorians into action where they dominate play for the final 10 minutes of the half, with SV being force to defend short corner upon short corner, until the halftime whistle was blown.
The half itself had been a little scrappy, with SV thinking if they could cut out silly mistakes the game would be there for the taking.

The second half started with SV under pressure from the beginning as Anchorians upped their game. The SV defence successfully defended numerous short corners, and they managed to counter attack during open play with Alex Hodges carrying the ball out of defence, past numerous Anchorians player to the opposition base line, where he picked out a pass to a cool calm and collected Andy Baar who slotted it in the back of the net. Anchorians continued to dominate large parts of the 2nd half and finally scored themself from a short corner. Heading into a nervy final 10 minutes SV struck again compliments of Tom Bartlett to take the pressure off the team, which spurred us on to retain possession for the remainder of the game.

The game finished 3-1 to SV who deserved the victory due to long periods of dominant play, backed up with a resilient defence. Man of the match goes to Alex Hodges who not only defended well for the game, but he carried the ball well into the opposition half, which created a winning platform for the team.
