Devlin Hat-trick get Valence back to winning ways

With only 1 win so far in the season, SV travelled to Old Wills looking to regain their winning ways. SV started the game very positively moving the ball quickly around the pitch and caught Old Wills napping. Andy Devlin put SV 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes with both goals coming from open play.
The second goal woke Old Wills up and as they pressed the SV’s defence for the first time. Some good interchange play saw them enter the D and tested they Rob Sharp who saved the first shot, but the second got past him and hit Alex Hodges foot on the line for which they were awarded a P flick. Puffing himself up….. Rob made himself look big and did enough to push the shot onto the post for a save. Possibly the turning point of the game as it would have put Old Wills back in the game. 25 minutes in and Andy slotted away his hat-trick which saw Sutton Valences dominant the rest of the half.
The game continued in the same vein with Sam Van De Gaag and Tom Barlett joining the scoring ranks in the second half. Defensively SV looked solid throughout the half leaving very little for Rob Sharp to do and the game ended 5-0 to SV.
Man of the match goes to Andy Devlin, not for his hat-trick, but for his work rate and smart holding up play when nothing else was on.
Team: Rob Sharp, Chris Bailey, Andy Devlin (3), Julius Ainsworth, Andy Baar, Sam Van De Gaag (1), Ed Liley, Lewis Mitchell, Mark Whitmill (c), Tom Bartlett (1), Alex Hodges & Chris Sheldon
