Bray’s hat trick secures dominant win

Bray’s hat trick secures dominant win

Games against Burnt Ash are always a close affair, but Sutton Valence had an extra incentive to take all 3 points, as they were looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season last weekend against Ashford.

The game started with Burnt Ash dominating the early possession, pinning SV in their half for the first 10 minutes. No sooner had SV cleared their lines, Burnt Ash formed another attack, putting the ball back in their half. The early pressure was soon released when SV scored on the counter attack with Tom Willson opening SV’s account from open play. It was against the run of play, but it formed the catalyst for the rest of the game. It wasn’t long before SV added another 2 goals in the half through Rob Bray, who’s recently started playing again after an extended term of absence away from the hockey field. SV entered half time with a 3 goal advantage.

SV were expecting a Burnt Ash fight back at the start of the second half, which didn’t materialise. They continued the second half in the same manner as the first had ended. Structurally SV were the better team, with defence linking to Midfield well, and the same into the forwards. It wasn’t long before SV extended their lead as Burnt Ash started to become stretched across all areas of the pitch. Chris Sheldon was next to get on the score sheet, and this was quickly followed up with the goal of the season so far, where 6 SV players one touch passed the ball up and across the pitch, eventually getting it to Rob Bray who had a simple tap in for his hat trick. Tom Bartlett finishing off the game and Burnt Ash with a 6th goal. There was a late consolation goal for Burnt Ash and the game finished 6-1 to Sutton Valence.

SV look to take this week’s form into their next game at home against Sevenoaks.
