10 man Valence turn up the heat on Deal
Starting the game with 10 men Sutton Valence played with one upfront while they waited for their 11th man to turn up. Valence started the game at a good pace and retained possession during the first 10 minutes. Early pressure paid off when SV were awarded a short corner, where Chris Sheldon wound up to shoot, but miss-hit the ball to the right of the goal, where Pete Rogers was waiting to redirect the shot in the back of the net.
15 minutes had passed when SV’s 11th man turned up and that’s when the home side started to turn the heat up on Deal for the final 20 minutes in the half. Before the half finished, SV dominated play and scored 3 goals all on the break, 2 from Chris Sheldon and 1 from Rob Bray.
Half-time came and SV wanted to make sure the break of play didn’t change their mind set. Deal had other ideas and started the half the better team, putting Valence under pressure throughout the half. However they lacked the cutting edge to score, and as the half progressed play became more and more stretched, with pockets of space forming all over the pitch. Sutton Valence took advantage of the stretched play and broke Deal down one final time with Chris Sheldon’s hat-trick to win the game 5-0.
The 3 points now see Sutton Valence 2nd XI top the table, after Sevenoaks Acorns drew against Holcolme
