SV4s show discipline!
SV4s benefit by starting and playing well through changed formation
SVHC 4s travelled to New Beccs, playing at 16:30, rather than the original expectation of 13.30. This later time necessitated some changes in SVHC 4th Xl’s team and their formation, playing a 2-4-3-1 which, combined with the team’s core of mature players, proved too much for New Beccs’ youthful side, despite their speed and skills.
From the start, SVHC put the pressure on the opposition by moving the ball around the back, using players in space and working triangles and diamond passing shapes to great effect. This allowed them to press into the opposition half and close them down in any attack before the half-way line. Valence enjoyed much of the possession, being able to move the ball and control the game and scoring twice to lead 2 : 0 at half-time.
In the second half, after a reminder to make the ball do the work, Valence’s 4th Xl’s fitness, better positional play and greater teamwork resulted in a feast of five more goals from the mid-field and forwards, with SVHC closing the game at 7 : 0.
This was a good result which will raise the confidence in the team after some hard games in recent weeks.
