K Sports show their superiority
SV turned up en-masse with a strong squad, albeit missing three key players (Gander, Jackson and Cockayne), keen to end the season with a strong performance. K-sports were flying in the League so Valence expected a very tough game, but this is the level at which they want to be competing.

The obligatory toss was won by Captain Fantastic, and he chose to defend with the sun to their back, looking for some rays of inspiration!

The game started fairly evenly with both teams having good possession and defending and passing well. Valence had some good opportunities but KS were well up to the challenge, backed up by a magnificent goalie. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal in the first half, but went in buoyed by only being one down and seemingly KS were starting to get agitated that the score was so close, so Valence thought they could pounce.

In the event, the second half quickly got away from SV, with a combination of some lucky play (missed feet and one goal stopped on the back stick before being finished), some missed tackles, but ultimately some clinical finishing and powerful attacking play.

K-Sports are playing hockey several leagues higher than the division they are in, so despite losing 5-0, Valence went away having played the best they’ve played all season (except in the away leg!), knowing they were beaten by a far superior opposition. If Valence play at this level every week next season, they’ll have a very strong season, hopefully after being promoted to Div 3.

Team: Lee Croucher, Nick Hall (Capt), Rob Harrison, James Willmott, Andrew Wishart, James Abrahams, Duncan field, Alex Stanford, Reuben Fielding, Chris Sheldon, Ben Browning, Alex Sandberg, James Hodges
