Sutton Valence Men’s 4s travelled to Gore Court, facing not only a strong home side but also some truly inhospitable weather.
Gore Court started brightly with a determined attacking press, but the Sutton Valence defence—marshalled superbly by Steve Vanns, Dominic Powell, Bob Sagrott and Andy McVarish—held firm and disrupted several early opportunities. The home side earned two short corners in the first half, both of which were dealt with confidently by the Sutton Valence unit.
Despite the resilient defensive effort, Gore Court eventually broke through and took a 2–0 lead into half-time.
Henry Powell, Matthew Lemmon and Archer Ripley was superb in midfield with constant energy to close down any attack they could and link the play to the forwards of Ryan Page and Rob Cockayne.
Conditions worsened dramatically after the break, with icy rain and swirling wind making play increasingly challenging. Sutton Valence battled on admirably and pushed forward in search of a way back into the game, but unfortunately couldn’t convert their chances. Gore Court capitalised late on to add a third goal, sealing the result
James Aldrich Come off the bench to play what was his first game in a number of years to prove it just like riding a bike with a impressive performance.
