Maidstone M6 vs. Sutton Valence M4
Sutton Valence travelled the short distance down the road to Armstrong road with a young minimal squad.
The game started with an exceedingly strong show from Maidstone with Sutton Valence defending to the last. The dead lock was broken with a well placed shot from an angle that flew past keepers left shoulder.
Sutton Valence was on the back foot for the most part the first half with the defence and keeper kept on their toes, turning back attack after attack. Maidstone made their second break though with a well placed short corner from their more senior player, resulting in two more goals before the break with the senior players again proving their worth for the home side.
Team talk was to keep going as this is still the early in the season and the start for the young players.
With the players taking to the field once more, Sutton Valence took to the second half with great determination, with link up well in the middle of the field followed by penetrating into the home teams half and D nevertheless Maidstone’s defence kept firm.
Maidstone yet again extended their lead with another short corner; Captain Rob Cockayne dropped himself back to help the defence, which helped keep the Maidstone seniors at bay, supported by Andy Bye and Dominic Powell.
Midway through the half saw Rod Harcourt score for Sutton Valence to take the clean sheet away from the home team. Unfortunately Maidstone went on to score a further two goals before the final whistle.
Credit has to go to the young new players from Sutton Valence, attending weekly with determination, enhanced skills and precision in their game.
