Sutton Valence 1st XI delivered a commanding performance in their preseason friendly against Crowborough 2nd XI, securing a 10-0 victory on a warm September afternoon at Beacon Academy. Crowborough, missing several key players, struggled to contain a well-drilled Sutton Valence side, who pressed high and dominated the game from start to finish.
Sutton Valence set the tone early, with Alex Stamp opening the scoring within minutes. Stamp continued to torment the Crowborough defence, netting a total of four goals and earning Man of the Match honours. Andy Turnill also shone, bagging a hat-trick with clinical finishing. Chris Johnson, who usually plays a deeper role, contributed two goals from midfield, while Fred McVarish rounded off the scoring with a well-placed strike.
By half-time, Sutton Valence led 6-0, thanks to their relentless pressure and strong team cohesion. The defence, marshalled by goalkeeper Stewart Young and led by Lewis Mitchell, was rarely troubled, with Dickie Turnill, Angus McVarish, and Russell Blanchard solid at the back.
Substitute Chris Stille also put in a solid shift, ensuring Sutton Valence maintained control throughout.
