Nothing separated these two sides at their first meeting at Sutton Valence and this encounter at Sevenoaks' Hollybush Lane proved to be no different. The exception this time - a cruelly deflected own goal.
Play was end to end in the first half with both teams creating opportunities that were wide of their mark or easily disposed of by the keepers. The deflection off a Sutton Valence stick that saw the game's only goal was a sanctimonious reflection of the state of play. A centre forward's dream; but defender's nightmare.
The second half ensued in much the same vein and although the home team's keeper was weighed and measured he remained unbeaten.
Between the two Ds the game was hard fought with each team receiving a brace of green for mild over-exuberance. Sevenoaks's midfield strained under the pressure and physicality and added a pair of yellow cards when tempers flared. The game closed out with the same high tempo and physicality as SVHC pressured to get the draw. Sadly not our day ..
