SVHC M1 vs Tunbridge Wells M2

SVHC 10 – Tunbridge Wells 2.
A second‑half riot that could’ve had its own documentary.

First Half – A Sniff of Promise

The grand plan was to reunite the forward partnership and deliver a goal fest by halftime. For the opening 15 minutes, it looked like poetry. Combinations flowing, tap‑ins appearing from nowhere, and Alex Stamp sniffing around the D with the enthusiasm of a terrier hot on the scent.

But then came the sticky spell. T Wells’ forwards bustled their way into the game but couldn’t finish their dinner—treating the goal like a Sunday roast and producing shanks of the highest, wobbliest order. Even the umpire felt moved to comment on the airborne variety of their efforts.

SVHC remained composed, heading into halftime 3–1 up.

Second Half – The Agincourt Deluge

A calm team talk and some tactical tweaks unleashed a second‑half performance reminiscent of Agincourt—only instead of arrows raining down, it was goals.

Alex Stamp, operating in his second-favourite position on the right, caused utter carnage. Drifting, dancing, feeding balls into the D like a man with far too many options. So many choices, in fact, that Fred McVarish started to get lively about not being passed to—patience, Fred, patience.

After last week’s defeat, the Valence rediscovered their old goal‑gluttonous selves. Slick passing, razor‑sharp movement, and a forward line carving up the Tunbridge Wells defence like a Christmas turkey.

Goal Highlights (because listing all 10 would require a novel)

Andy Turnill unleashed a short‑corner drag flick that screamed into the low right like it had somewhere urgent to be.

Chris “Magic” Johnson produced a delicious first‑time shot from the baseline feed, rolling neatly into the corner at unexpected pace.

And then the improvised short corner—Fred McV absolutely walloped it, sending the ball (and possibly a T Wells player) several days into the future.
This wasn’t quite the plan. The set piece had been designed to showcase Alex Stamp’s hitting prowess, but Carter’s pass had other ideas. Fred swooped in to steal the limelight, and Stamp was promptly subbed off—reality can be harsh for a young forward.

Spicy Ending

The game wrapped up at 10–2, but not without a hint of heat. One anonymous oppo player offered the immortal line:
“No wonder you’re in this league.”
A statement that raised more eyebrows than a plastic surgeon, but perhaps that’s the snowflake rationale behind handing out the post‑match 99s.

On to El Clasico

A strong attacking performance to set up next week’s derby with Marden—the one the fans call El Clasico.
Momentum, goals, and questionable humour are all firmly back on the menu.

Well played, gentlemen.
