Sutton Valence 2s Match Report
29 November 2025, 15:00

On a cold, overcast afternoon, SV 2s arrived raring to go. With a league bye on the horizon next week, the message was clear from the outset. This was a vital opportunity to take all three points and the team stepped onto the pitch with purpose.

The tone was set almost instantly. In the 1st minute, captain Harrison Sharpe glided into the D, losing his marker with ease. A sharp, driving run from Alexander Hodges opened the space and his sublime feed across goal found Harrison, who swept the ball clinically past the keeper for a blistering start.

The early pressure continued. By the 6th minute, Chris Sheldon had doubled the lead, finishing confidently after a spell of controlled possession. Hodges added his own name to the sheet in the 14th minute, capitalising on a loose defensive line.

Moments later came one of the standout goals of the afternoon. In the 19th minute, Tom Millington danced through the D, skipping through challenges before smashing the ball high past the keeper to make it 4–0 heading into the break.

The second half carried the same rhythm. Sheldon struck again in the 41st minute, then completed his hat trick in the 47th minute with a calm finish. Chris Stille was keen not to be left out and joined the scoring in the 51st minute, then again in the 63rd minute, turning strong team moves into goals.

As the match opened up late on, Hodges found another in the 67th minute, and Millington followed in the 68th. Despite the captain doing his best to impose some physicality on the back line late in the game, one tired tackle left him flat on the turf after a heavy 50–50 collision. Sheldon seemed to take this personally. In the 69th minute he drove forward again, skilling up the defence before firing a bullet into the backboard to round off a ruthless attacking performance.

The centre of midfield weren’t able to get onto the scoresheet, but their tireless running and supportive passing made the goals possible. Brett Angle and Tom Willson ran the opposition ragged, creating space for Sheldon, Stille, Hodges and Sharpe to work their magic.

While the score line may not reflect it, the SV defence had plenty to manage as K Sports turned to high aerials and strong crash balls to break the ever reliable Blanchard Blockade. Both Zak and Russ pushed high to support the team, while Steven Parker looked almost light headed at one point from the constant pressure SV were applying across the pitch and found himself on the high side of the half way line!. Some great transfers, and as always sharp interceptions and well timed tackles, kept Andy largely untroubled. Only a pair of quick counterattacks forced him into action, but the strong willed keeper held firm to secure a clean sheet against his former club.

From back to front this was a confident and disciplined showing. With the bye week ahead, SV 2s can enjoy a well earned breather knowing they delivered exactly what was needed.

Many thanks to all the SV 1s and 3s players who came along and supported from the sidelines.
