Sutton Valence 3's were looking to bounce back from the previous weeks result against a youthful Sevenoaks team. The game started with Sutton Valence dominating the majority of the first 15 minutes. The early pressure was paid back when a clearance pass from Sevenoaks was cut out mid-way through Valences half, giving us the opportunity to counter. Some smart quick passing culminated in Andy Barr slotting the ball home to give Sutton Valence a 1-0 lead. From that moment on, Sevenoaks upped their work rate making it difficult for Valence to clear the ball from their half. The continued pressure led to a defensive mistake at the back which gifted Sevenoaks an equaliser, and a few minutes later they score another taking a 2-1 lead into half time.
It was clear that fitness was going to cause the biggest concerns for Sutton Valence as this was the first game back for many of the team. Play throughout the second half was stretched, leaving large gaps in the middle of the pitch. The superior fitness of Sevenoaks eventually took its toll, with Valence conceding 4 goals in the final 20 minutes, with the game ending 6-1 to Sevenoaks. With fitness the main issue, the 3's look towards Tuesday night training to put some miles on the clock to help with this coming weekend.
