The Cliftonville side arrived promptly with a young team supported by a few senior players.
The first half saw some good hockey from both teams and at first the game was squaring up to be a good contest. However, some early goals from Sutton Valence showed their composure in front of goal and the way the match was heading.
The young Cliftonville side got through on goal several times with some good runs on the break. But they could not find the back of the net, whereas Sutton Valence found the net regularly when they pushed forwards. Despite constant pressure and goals from Sutton Valence, Cliftonville kept up the pace, enthusiasm and support for their youngsters.
The final score was 10-0 to SVHC.
It was welcoming to see so many youngsters being blooded in Senior Hockey, well done to Cliftonville despite the result.
