Could have won if short corners converted

Sutton Valence 2nd Xl played away at Gore Court with a 14:30 PB which became a 14:50 PB due to late over-run of the previous game. As always, playing at Westland School pitches, there was a cold wind, and it rained a few times more beyond the deluges of rain from Sat AM.
Gore Court 4th Xl were a good mixture of youth and experience playing against Valence who were fielding a team with more than sufficient experience, however it would be telling on the fitness as they started with the floodlights on.
The game itself started with Valence taking a lot of pressure from Gore Court, in fact it took SVHC around 10 mins to make the first incursion into Gore Court’s half, admittedly it was into the wind. However, as the game picked up pace, Gore Court managed to get a goal around middle of the first half despite a few Gore Court players not knowing the rules changes in place by EH from Sept 2019.
1-0 to Gore Court at half time and all to play for.
Second half Gore Court managed to get another goal 10 mins in and the game felt it was slipping away from Valence. However, the change of ends, playing now with the wind to their backs, Valence found their second wind and pressurised Gore Court for a sustained period from 11th min through to 24th minute, whereby Tom Willson and then Dickie Turnill managed to get two well taken goals, one in play and the second via a short corner. This period saw several short corner awards, which SVHC had had during both first and second half, unfortunately they could not convert the opportunities, which would have changed the game.
At 2-2, with 10 mins to go, after a few green cards to Gore Court who were feeling pressured, it was probable that both sides thought a draw was a good result, but for a lapse of concentration and Gore Court scored again.
Valence 3s lost 3-2, but could have won this if they were able to score from the several short corner awards.
