Sutton Valence headed across to Knole Academy late afternoon for a 16.30 push back, a time at which some of the team would normally be wrapped at home with their coco and slippers.
Following a good 5-4 victory in the home leg prior to Christmas Valence were full of hope of obtaining another victory. Valence started well stringing together some good passes and having most of the possession in the first 10 mins.
The home side scored on the break though against the run of play. Valence were unlucky not to draw level soon after which was compounded by Kirkham winning and then missing a flick.
The very talented and youthful opponents began to settle into the game and soon it was all Valence could do not to concede. All was not lost though when the ball came to Chris Stille though who calmly rounded the keeper and got Valence back the game.
Great work down the left wing by Jack Sheldon did create some opportunities which unfortunately the forwards were unable to capitalise on.
Unfortunately, fitness began to show through with constant attacks breaking down the Valence defence and the resulting goals came quick and fast despite some last-ditch tackles by Back.
At last the final whistle blew and Valence could retreat to the pub to lick their wounds and appreciate the local ale.
