Sutton Valence 3rd XI sadly lost 0-2 at home to Maidstone this week.
Maidstone looked the keener team in the middle of the field for the vast majority of the game, utilising their speed, which even seasoned workhorse Bob Bartlett was unable to keep up with.
Maidstone scored not long into the first half, despite the valiant efforts of the Sutton Valence defence and goalkeeper Ross Mackay. Sutton Valence had a couple of chances, but Julian Mills and Rob Cockayne failed to link up effectively to finish off the small handful of opportunities.
Maidstone scored again in the second half, with the Sutton Valence legs slowing dramatically and to quote Herr Willson, there was a “real lack of cohesion”.
On the plus side, we definitely won at teas again!
