Sutton Valence 3rd XI welcomed Sittingbourne 4th XI off the back of a 5-0 loss on the away fixture.
Sutton Valence started the game in a dominant manner, trapping Sittingbourne in their half with creative passing and off the ball movement from the entire team. Sittingbourne utilised their experienced defence well however, and their keeper made a number of good saves to keep the score tied.
The deadlock was broken when Sutton Valence worked a well planned short corner routine, with Rob Cockayne slipping the ball to Fred McVarish, who netted the ball with a solid flick past the keeper.
The gap was increased soon after from another short corner routine, which saw the ball sent back to injector Darren Thompson, who reverse flicked the ball at the goal.
Fred McVarish then netted a second just before half time.
Julian Mills scored the fourth, with a nice dribble around the keeper to reverse-hit the ball through a defender’s legs.
Sittingbourne pulled back a goal towards the end of the game, with a deflected shot off the keeper’s pads, which looped over Andy Bye and into the goal. Keeper Lee Croucher claimed it as an own goal.
