Tough Start to 2025 for 3’s
Sutton Valence 3’s travelled to Old Williamsonian's after an extra long winter break.
Sutton Valence started strong with string of good passes that penetrated the opposition's half but unfortunately they could not convert these into goals with them going just wide or hitting the post.
Old Williansonians made the breakthrough with a short corner that was placed bottom corner despite the keeper's pad getting there, Old Williamsonians followed this up a short time after with a well hit shot though a crowd which left the keeper wrong footed. Sutton Valence didn't let their heads drop and continued to push to the half time whistle.
Second half began the way the first finished with both teams pushing into each other's D’s and both keepers having to put some saves in to keep the score line as it was.
Unfortunately Old Williamsonians made life difficult for the Sutton Valence defence with some great balls down the wings and middle to outnumber the Sutton Valence defence two of which they managed to convert into goals.
Sutton Valence never letting their heads drop pushed and with a smart ball that made its way to Captain Rob Cockayne who slotted it through the keeper's legs and a cry of “Come on lads one more we can do this”. But some quick play and passes saw Old Williamsonians make one last attack and slot home the final goal of the game.
Game ended 5-1 but despite the score line the game was played in a good manner.
