Sutton Valence 3 rd XI travelled to Polo Farm to face Canterbury Friars in what is starting to
look like a fight for survival at the lower end of the league.
Both teams seemed rather even in their ability at in the first ten minutes of the game, before
Canterbury managed to score the first goal of the game, with the ball fumbling over the line.
Dynamic due Stuart Edmed and Alex Stanford battled well in the middle of the park, backed
by sweeper Christian Chadwick supporting from the rear. Despite their best efforts, the high-
experienced Canterbury goalkeeper kept the Sutton Valence strikers at bay with a chain of
good saves.
It was becoming clear that the over-watered pitch was not helping Sutton Valence, with
many of the team struggling to read the strength and speed of passes.
Early in the second half Canterbury managed to pull further ahead with a second goal.
The game was soon put to bed with a rapid counterattack from Canterbury, which left a two-
on-one with the Sutton Valence centre-back, which keeper David Turner was unable to keep
out of the goal despite getting a good foot on the shot.
The score line may have felt a little unjustified in comparison to the Sutton Valence
performance, but the game was played in fantastic spirits by all.
