Against all odds, Sutton Valence secure double against Old Wills.
Thanks to a mix up with the school fixtures, Sutton Valence made the long journey up Blue Bell Hill, looking to secure the double against the team below them in the league.
Valence had a strong squad, aided by the slightly later pushback time, albeit missing their leader, Hall, who still hasn’t manned up following his mouth injury.
The game swung both ways, with both teams playing some good hockey, although it was clear from early on why Sutton Valence were pushing for promotion.
Eventually, Sutton Valence broke the deadlock, through a well worked goal, finished off by the evergreen Field, closely followed by Will’s finish to put Valence 2-0 up. It was clear heads were dropping in the Old Wills camp, so James “Moses”Abrahams gave the command to part the seas and allow Old Wills to score, else they wouldn’t have scored by a week Thursday.
Despite playing with reduced numbers due to ill disciple, Sutton Valence continued to batter the Old Wills back line, but not wanting to humiliate them, held up the 3rd till near the end of the match, courtesy of O’Leary.
The game ended 3-2 to high-flying Sutton Valence, Sutton Valence go to Canterbury looking to push for 3rd place.
