SV Men’s 3 rd XI continue to ride high
Following a solid victory against BBHC on the opening day of the season, Sutton
Valence Men’s 3s welcomed Sittingbourne Men’s 5s to the Fortress.

From the off Sutton Valence looked fitter and more dominant team with Sittingbourne
unable to get out of their own half of the pitch.

The initial deadlock was broken by Rob Cockayne who managed to score with a stroke
from a tight baseline angle.

Sittingbourne soon after had a goal overturned in favour of a short corner, for offence in
the D. The remainder of the first half saw both teams making strong attacks and clever
defensive play.

Following a constructive half-time team talk Sutton Valance came out of the blocks
again, conscious that they were only one goal in the lead.

Sutton Valance managed to win a short corner, Which was well choreographed to see a
high-paced push pass from Duncan Wills onto the post for Henry Powell to deflect in.

Despite the gruelling heat Sutton Valance continued to pile on the pressure. Rob
Cockayne extending the lead to three with a reverse stick shot into the bottom corner.
He shortly after secure his hat-trick with a short corner strike between the keeper’s legs.

Sittingbourne did manage to pull a goal back from a short corner towards the end of the
game.

The final whistle was blown whilst Sutton Valence were lining up for a short corner.
Having yet to have made the score sheet, Duncan Wills was allowed to have a strike,
which just managed to hit the metal tracking of the backboard to seal the game at 5-1.

A solid performance by the Men’s 3 rd XI, and a well deserved result.
