SVHC Men’s 3’s remain unbeaten

Sutton Valence Men’s 3 rd XI travelled to Gravesend to take on Gravesham and
Wellcome 4’s for the third game of the season.

Both teams started well, but unfortunately Gravesham & Wellcome took the lead early in the game,
whereas the SVHC strikers were unable to execute scoring opportunities.

However, deep into the second half Archer Ripley charged down the right, into the D,
and chipped a shot into the back of the net to draw level.

Gravesham & Wellcome were awarded a chain of short corners, one of which was scored on the second
attempt, taking them back into the lead with little time left for SVHC to respond.

But respond they did. Matthew Lemmon and William Turnill linked up beautifully in the
middle of the field, cutting through the opposition midfield, with Turnill making a sublime
weighted pass to Rob Cockayne, who scored the second equaliser in a one-on-one with
the Gravesham & Wellcome keeper.

The match finished 2-2, which given SVHC had a number of players forced to play out
of position, was a good result. Notable credit must be passed to the younger members
of the team, Matthew Lemmon, William Turnill, Ryan Page, Archer Ripley and Alex
Kennett, who all played their socks off, smashing out exceptional performances.
