Valence started strongly and within 10 mins found themselves not only 1 but 2 goals up. The first, only seconds after the start of the match, was a fantastic one touch finish from Chris Jackson who had the good sense to read that the ball into the D would be completely miss-hit and latched onto the end of it to beat the rather small Old Wills’ keeper. The second, another good finish from Duncan Wills, making it a goal in two successive games for him having only started playing for Valence 3 weeks ago.
Valence continued to play well, pressing well as a team and retaining possession reasonably well with their passing. Well, mostly. This pressure eventually paid dividends with Chris Jackson again providing the finish to extend the lead to 3-0.
Valence continued to dominate possession and generally looked comfortable, easily playing some of their best hockey so far this season. Despite Old Wills managing to pull one goal back, they didn’t really look to have an answer to the damage done in the first 10mins and Valence comfortably saw the game out.
