But will need to play even better to continue progress

Sutton Valence were confident going into this match against Sevenoaks coming off the back of two good wins to start this League campaign.
They started the game well, putting early pressure on the Sevenoaks’ defence and playing high up in the Sevenoaks’ half. The breakthrough came early on as Cockayne robbed a defender following a 16 hit and coolly finished somehow sneaking the ball through the goalkeeper. Despite taking the lead, Valence struggled to create many more meaningful chances in the first half, struggling in the final third of the pitch but managing to hold onto the slim lead with some resolute defending.
After the break Valence tried to up the tempo, to take the game away from Sevenoaks but again the Sevenoaks’ defence, and simple errors from the Valence players, frustrated them and stopped them making further inroads on the score-board.
Eventually Valence doubled their lead when a pass deflected off a defender’s foot but still managed to find Cockayne free in the D, and he managed to put the ball into the goal from an almost impossible angle (even he later admitted he didn't know how it had gone in). In that position most players would have squared the ball to their strike partner, but luckily not our Cockayne, so the goalie was left surprised with such an audacious attempt.
Valence continued to push forward as the game became more stretched and made the score 3-0 thanks to Chris Jackson from what was an equally if not even tighter angle than Cockayne's second.
Overall Valence were pleased with the result and the clean sheet but know they were far from their best today and that the score-line could have been very different.
They visit Old Wills next Saturday knowing they will have to play a lot better if they are to continue their winning streak.
