Sutton Valence 3rd Xl welcomed Folkestone Optimist 6th Xl this week as the monsoon season struck Kent. The match started in heavy rain and from the start Valence found themselves under pressure from waves of Folkestone youngsters swarming the Valence 25. These attacks were relentless and eventually bore fruit with Folkestone taking the lead.

Although the weather began to improve, Valence's fortunes didn't and, although they had managed to score one through a strong strike from a short corner by Duncan Wills, found themselves 3-1 down at half time.

The second half continued in the same vein with a string of short corners yielding two further goals for Folkestone. Even this was not enough and the attacks continued leaving the Valence defence often overloaded resulting in a final score of 7-1 to Folkestone. This was a disappointing result for Valence who were outplayed for the vast majority of the match.
