Valence welcomed Holcombe and quickly felt that they should have checked the forecast, as, though there was little in the way of rain the Hurricanes were very pronounced. The scoring by Holcombe came thick and fast, leaving a battered Valence side who were confused as to whether it was 4 or 6 : 0 at half-time. It was 6.
In the second half Valence started to get a little more into the game, but this only achieved a reduction in the visitors’ scoring rate rather than any success for themselves. As the game ended 8 : 0 to Holcombe, Valence took the only positives possible - they had managed to get a squad of 13 out and it didn't rain much.
