19th February 2022 in the wake of storm Eunice Sutton Valence 3rds played a home game against Blackheath.
Both teams looked fairly even and it was hard to tell who would come out on top just by looking at both side’s athletic prowess. Quickly into the game, Blackheath’s attackers got the better of Sutton Valence’s defence and scored an early goal. Shortly after Chris Shelton managed to score a silent but deadly goal levelling the playing field with 1-1.
It’s reasonable to say Darren’s passing was just as wild and ferocious as the storm; but regardless, Daz managed to get the ball clear of our half and into the sticks of the youths Fenton and Jack, who helped assist a lovely goal by Tom Bartlett.
Despite Charlie Tucker thinking he was playing football and giving away consecutive short corners; Sutton Valence’s defence were able to hold off Blackheath’s attacks and end the first half 2-1 up.
Second half starts just as full on with both teams battling back and fourth. Blackheath managed to slip in a second goal and equalise. Not long after there was a third goal from Blackheath as the win seemed even further away from Valence.
With both teams on their last legs and victory for Blackheath in sight. Sutton Valence stopped the win in its tracks and scored a last second goal by ‘Two Goal Tom Bartlett’. The game ended 3-3, good performance and effort from everyone involved.
