Sutton Valence Ladies 1st XI vs BromBecks Ladies 5th XI. AWAY.

Last game of the season: 5-0 WIN !

The sun was shining and after a quick warm up, the game commenced and both teams were in good spirits.

After a strong start from Sutton Valence, they won their first short corner. Nicky Coomansingh injected to Maddie Wills, who smashed it into the goal! We were off..... 1-0 to SV!

BromBecks HC Ladies tried to put on a strong attack but Sutton Valence drove the ball back into their half for another short corner. Three more short corners followed and although the ball got close to getting in the net, Sutton Valence sadly didn't score.

The game continued, with a bit more to-and-fro play, our 15 players were subbing every 12 or nine minutes just then, Erinn Fahy-Thompson picked up the ball on the left wing, dribbled it round a defender and did a quick pass to Nicky Coomansingh and Isla Hill at the P-spot. The ball shot up into the air and into the back of the net, 2-0 to Sutton Valence.
Just before half time, Maddie delivered a lovely cross to Isla Hill, who nearly scored from the left post.

In the second half, BromBecks HC tried to dominate the game but fantastic work in defense from Claire Edmed, Cath Mills and Abbie Norris meant that the ball was cleared several times. Indie Beech made several incredible saves and it was great having Debbie Saunders back in defence, after not playing the last couple of games. BromBecks HC tried to move the ball between their players but Debbie delivered some much needed defensive work; clearing of the ball on the right hand side and had her best game yet!

Katherine Lichfield took a free hit and passed a super quick ball to Nicky Coomansingh who picked up the ball in midfield, drove forward and entered the D, taking a quick shot on goal and scored the 3rd goal in the bottom left hand corner! 3-0 to Sutton Valence Ladies!

Sutton Valence relaxed into the game and kept up rotations and smooth subbing. Evie Westlake and Laura Boorman were tenacious in our midfield, putting pressure on BromBecks and working with those in defense, particularly Katherine Lichfield who put in some fantastic tackles and passes, especially around one the oppositions most experienced player! The ball then found Fayth, who hit the ball up the pitch to forward, Amelie Pritchard, who worked hard as our Left Winger. Erinn Fahy-Thompson found herself in great positions on the left post, many times but sadly was not able to convert to a goal.

Megan Saunders was on fire on the right wing, with many fast runs down to the D, passing the ball across for the other forwards, including Maddie Wills, who after doing some fast skills scored our 4th goal!

Our 5th goal came after several players had shots on goal and forward, Megan Saunders, found the back of the net with a super goal and a great finish to her time with Sutton Valence!

What a way to finish our first season! We won 5-0 and everyone in the team and on the sideline, enjoyed working together to get us to our fantastic finishing position in our league!

Player of the match was Colleen Fahy, one of our biggest fans and also is Erinn's Mum. The team wanted to thank her for all her support, kindness, positivity and treats, every week, for the team!

A special thank you to Claire Edmed who has Captained our team, managed training with Duncan Wills, organised umpires, selection and making sure everyone is happy. Thus all contributed to the teams inclusive, positive nature and success.
