Sutton Valence vs Knole Park – Match Report
On a cold afternoon, Sutton Valence and Knole Park both started strongly, setting a high tempo from the opening whistle. Knole Park enjoyed more possession in the first half and created several chances, calling Sutton Valence goalkeeper David Turner into action on a few occasions. Turner, supported by a disciplined defence, stood firm to keep the score level, and the teams went into the break at 0–0.
The second half began in much the same fashion, with both sides searching for the opening goal. Sutton Valence broke the deadlock when Rob Cockayne struck from the top of the D following a short corner. Momentum swung further in Sutton Valence’s favour as they doubled their lead, Henry Powell delivering a well-placed cross for Ryan Page to finish smartly.
Knole Park continued to press and were rewarded with a breakthrough, a well-weighted ball into the D leaving the Sutton Valence goalkeeper no time to react. Soon after, Knole Park equalised when a fortunate deflection fell to an unmarked player.
Sutton Valence responded positively and continued to probe against a very deep and heavy Knole Park defence. Rob Cockayne fired a cross into the D, where Matthew Lemmon drove in at full stretch to guide the ball past the keeper and restore Sutton Valence’s lead.
Knole Park then changed tactics in search of another equaliser, which opened the game up. Sutton Valence took full advantage, with Ryan Page popping up at the post once again to seal victory for the home side.
A thoroughly deserved win and an all-round fantastic team performance from Sutton Valence.
