

Sutton Valence 4s travelled to Gravesend for their penultimate game of the season, played under an unusually warm sun.
Gravesham settled into the match more quickly, showing sharp precision on the ball and creating several early opportunities. It wasn’t long before they took the lead, with a player finding space at the top of the D and firing into the bottom corner.
Sutton Valence responded with determination, applying sustained pressure. However, luck was not on their side, as shots were either well saved or went agonisingly wide.
Gravesham doubled their lead before the break, capitalising on a defensive lapse with a player left unmarked at the post.
Sutton Valence started the second half strongly and were rewarded from a well-executed short corner, finished calmly by Rob Cockayne to bring them back into the game.
Gravesham pushed to restore their two-goal advantage but were initially held at bay by a resilient Sutton Valence defence. As the game wore on and the heat began to take its toll, a few loose passes from Sutton Valence allowed the home side to strike twice in quick succession.
Despite continued pressure from Sutton Valence, they were unable to find the finish they were searching for. Gravesham sealed the victory five minutes from time with a well-worked team goal, rounding off a clinical performance.
It wasn’t Sutton Valence’s day, but that does nothing to diminish what the team has achieved this season in their first year together
