
Match Report: Canterbury Development vs Sutton Valence
The game opened with Canterbury taking an early lead from an awkward, bouncing shot that found its way in. Sutton Valence responded confidently, equalising through a well-placed short-corner finish by Rob Cockayne.
Canterbury regained their advantage when a shot deflected off the keeper’s pads and rolled over the line. Despite this, Sutton Valence’s young players battled hard, and the first half ended 2–1.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Sutton Valence showing great determination and work rate across the pitch. Canterbury added a third at the back post, capitalising on their spare player.
Sutton Valence created several strong chances of their own, forcing saves and sending a few efforts narrowly wide. Their closest opportunity came from Alex Stanford with a powerful strike that rattled off the post.
Although Sutton Valence continued to push, a well-drilled Canterbury side added a fourth late on to seal the match. The final scoreline didn’t truly reflect the quality and effort shown by the Sutton Valence team.
