Lessons learnt in competition help forge a team

This was the first time SVHC U12 Boys have really played as a team. All the players improved and it was interesting to see that, despite some heavy losses, the team enjoyed playing as a properly structured unit.

Sutton Valence v Marden 1 – Loss 0-10
Sutton Valence v Marden 2 – Loss 0-5
Sutton Valence v Canterbury Panthers – Loss 0-5

At this point the goal keeper had actually been saving more of the attempts on goal than he was letting in and so we had a little restructure and pulled the striker back into help the defence.

Sutton Valence v Canterbury Lions – Draw 2-2 (Rohan x2)

SVHC played some great Hockey in this match and with a stronger defence this allowed the mid-field and wingers to put together a couple of well worked goals, which were scored with power and accuracy from Rohan.
Sutton Valence v Ashford – Loss 0-5.

Despite the losses, the boys progress as a team was a delight to see and it was particularly good to see them all enjoying themselves and being so supportive of the new goal-keeper on his first time playing in goal, well done Joe.

They very much look forward to the next training session on 28th Jan and next tournament on 4th Feb at Holcombe.
